Arugga AI Farming is launching the first plant-lowering robot for tomato and cucumber plants in greenhouses. Nicknamed 'Louie' by its R&D team, the autonomous plant-lowering robot optimizes one of greenhouse farming's most labour-intensive tasks.

Known for commercializing pollination robots, the Israel-based company has signed agreements to deliver its first fleet of commercial plant-lowering robots to selected growers in the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

Iddo Geltner, Arugga AI Farming CEO: "It is a big achievement after a couple of years of hard work by our R&D team. We are pleased to start working with leading European growers including Lans and Harvest House".

Erwin van der Lans, Operational Director, Lans: "We have witnessed high level of reliability and improved speed since the robot was trialed at our Dinteloord site last year. We are now ready to deploy the first four units".

Silvia Janssen-Voorbij, Head of R&D, Harvest House: "We look forward to bringing this great innovation to our growers in the Netherlands. This promising solution helps address challenging labor shortages. Automation in greenhouses is critical to remain competitive".

Eytan Heller, VP of Business Development at Arugga AI Farming: "Following the success of our automated pollination robots, launching the first plant-lowering robot is a significant milestone for Arugga AI Farming in creating innovative solutions for growers. We look forward to meeting growers from all parts of the world and showcasing various solutions for greenhouse farming."

The lowering robot has been selected as a finalist for the Greentech 2025 Innovation Concept Award. Growers attending Greentech on 10-12 June will be able to attend a demonstration by Louie on June 12 and 13. Registration for the live demonstration is available on Arugga's website.
